Bayou Meto Township

Started in 1820’s when the first Settlers came to this area from Tennessee. They were the Gray family, they settled on the Bayou Meto where they planted cotton and corn. In 1824 the United States Government granted appropriation to survey a road from opposite to Memphis, Tennessee, to Little Rock, in Arkansas Territory. By 1832 there was a stage coach house and mail service was added.
